Textile memories – stories of displacement and expulsion

Displacement, expulsion and new beginnings are not just part of history, but continue to shape the lives of many people today – whether in the first, second or third generation. Do you also have mementos of such experiences? Perhaps a tablecloth from your family, a cloth or other textile relic that carries stories of home, loss and hope?
In our storytelling café, we would like to give these stories space. The textile installation by Varvara Keidan Shavrova encourages us to reflect on the significance of textiles that preserve experiences of uprooting and new beginnings.
After a brief introduction to the gallery exhibition, we warmly invite you to talk about the meaning of your memorabilia over coffee and biscuits. We look forward to your stories!
