TEXTILE MEMORIES – CREATING TOGETHER - with artist Varvara Keidan Shavrova
In the gallery exhibition Textile Memories, Varvara Keidan Shavrova presents a series of felt blankets printed with images from her family album. This installation is complemented by three textiles from the Documentation Centre’s collection. Together, the pieces symbolize the deeply human desire to connect with warmth, familiarity, and family, offering solace against the painful experiences of displacement, loneliness, and uprootedness.
In this workshop, participants will use creative techniques such as drawing, cutting, sewing, and embroidery to transform personal memories into unique artworks. Feel free to bring a personal photo or textile item to share your own story—perhaps linked to flight, displacement, emigration, or adapting to life in an unfamiliar place.
Creations from the workshop can later be integrated into the gallery exhibition.
