Strong and Vulnerable – Women in Displacement

Half of all people who are forced to flee or are displaced are women and girls. They are often exposed to gender-specific violence and dangers while fleeing: structural discrimination and sexual abuse are not only causes of displacement, but also harsh realities during their journey, upon arrival, or in refugee camps. At the same time, these individuals are the ones who, under the most difficult circumstances, take care of children and family. In such extraordinary situations, women bear immense responsibility and require resilience and courage.

This guided tour explores the specific challenges faced by women and girls in displacement and examines testimonies that shed light on their experiences, both past and present.
