Moving Images – A Tour of Displacement and Photography

Historical photographs of displacement and expulsion are rare due to the circumstances. Nevertheless, photographs play a central role in the memory of such events – especially today, they shape our perception of the experience of displacement and the causes of flight. In our permanent exhibition, we also show a large number of photos taken at different times and in different places. But who actually takes these pictures? In what situations were they taken and on whose behalf? What happens to the pictures afterwards? And do they always depict reality? These are the topics we will discuss in this tour.
