Lost History - Shared Memories. Deportations in the Soviet Union from the Russian-German and Chechen Perspective

Since German reunification, the majority of immigrants come from the successor states of the Soviet Union.  Although the reasons for their immigration are diverse, many of them share similar collective memories: their parents and grandparents were suspected of collaborating with the German Wehrmacht under Stalin and deported to Central Asia and Siberia. Collective forced resettlements, such as the deportations in the Soviet Union, leave traces and have an impact on our lives for generations.

The web documentation "Lost History - Shared Memories: Deportations in the Soviet Union from the Russian-German and Chechen Perspective" deals with coming to terms with these experiences and embedding them in the general culture of remembrance.
