Christiane Hoffmann: Everything we don't remember
Everything we Don't Remember. On Foot on my Father's Escape Route
In January 2020, Christiane Hoffmann, First Deputy Government Spokesperson and former Deputy Head of the Capital Bureau of the magazine "Der Spiegel", sets off from a village in Silesia. She walks 550 kilometres to the west, it is the way her father fled from the Red Army in the winter of 1945.
The displacement and the loss of the homeland shape the author's childhood, a wound remains, as with so many families. After her father's death, the daughter returns to Rosenthal, now called Różyna. She searches for the story and its scars.
