Remembrance for the Victims of Displacement and Expulsion, 20 June 2022
On 20 June 2022, the Federal Government's commemoration of the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Displacement and Expulsion took place at the Documentation Centre for Displacement, Expulsion, Reconciliation.
This day of remembrance is held annually on 20 June, together with World Refugee Day, to commemorate the victims of displacement and expulsion worldwide and in particular the German expellees of the war and post-war period.
This year, the Federal Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Construction, Klara Geywitz, gave a welcome address. This was followed by two testimonies from Helgard Rohrmoser, contemporary witness of displacement and expulsion from World War II, and Diana Liebert, contemporary witness of displacement and expulsion from Ukraine. The President of the Federation of Expellees, Dr. Bernd Fabritius, gave the closing address.
