Audio and tactile tour: Displacement and expulsion of the Germans

Part 2: DISPLACEMENT AND EXPULSION OF THE GERMANS – an audio-tactile tour of the second floor of the permanent exhibition

How did the millions of expulsions in Eastern Europe come about after the Second World War? And what did it mean for the 14 million Germans to lose their homeland? A wooden crate in which only a few belongings could be packed makes us wonder: what do you take with you when you have to leave your home? And what do we actually understand by the term ‘homeland’?

On our inclusive tour, we will get to know various objects and stories from our permanent exhibition through sound and touch, and learn more about the history of the displacement and expulsion of Germans after the Second World War.
