Aural and tactile tour

Expulsion of the Germans

20 December 2024, 3 p.m. (duration 120 minutes)

Part 2: DISPLACEMENT AND DISPERSAL OF THE GERMANS – an audio-tact tour through the second floor of the permanent exhibition

How did the millions of displacements in Eastern Europe after the Second World War come about? And what did it mean for the 14 million Germans to lose their homeland? A wooden crate in which only a few belongings could be packed makes us wonder: what do you take with you when you have to leave your home? And what do we actually understand by the term ‘home’?

In our inclusive tour, we will get to know various objects and stories from our permanent exhibition through hearing and touching, and learn more about the history of the displacement and expulsion of Germans after the Second World War.

Free of charge with prior registration.
